Associated British Ports has invested £15m to develop 40 acres of industrial open storage land across their ports in Cardiff and Newport.
The investment is aimed at combatting the increasing demand for logistics space in South Wales.
The locations are targeting sectors such as steel, renewables, aggregates, and logistics that could take advantage of ABP’s port infrastructure and transport links.
This move reflects ABP’s strategy to expand across its 21 ports in the UK, with the investment providing secure and accessible sites that are ready for occupation.
The investment will deliver four sites, the first of which will be available in Q1 of 2026.
Helen Thomas, head of property at ABP, said: “ABP is more than a port operator, we’re a strategic landowner and commercial landlord with over 2,000 acres of land in Wales, the second largest landowner in Wales and offering unmatched access to South Wales’ industrial heartlands and the M4 corridor.”
