Abramovich pays £28m for London home

Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich has paid £28m for a six-storey house in Eaton Square, London SW1.

Jet set socialite Lily Safra acquired the house for £23m in 2001.

Abramovich already owns a 450-acre (182ha) estate in West Sussex – bought for £12m from Australian media mogul Kerry Packer three years ago – and has homes in Moscow and St Tropez.

He is trying to sell a four-bedroom, four-bathroom duplex maisonette in Lowndes Square, near Harvey Nichols. The flat is on the market at £5m.
