Abrdn is planning to establish a new London headquarters at Duo Spitalfields, EC2, an upcoming office block near Liverpool Street.
The recently renamed fund manager is under offer on about 40,000 sq ft at the scheme at 280 Bishopsgate.
Should the deal go through, it will join Baker McKenzie at the newly built block, after the law firm took a 130,000 sq ft prelet for its new UK base.
Duo, which sits opposite the Broadgate complex, is owned by CBRE Global Investors and King Street Real Estate, in partnership with Arax Properties.
The partners are refurbishing the vacant former London headquarters of Royal Bank of Scotland to provide 280,000 sq ft of office space, including a new rooftop terrace and balconies overlooking Spitalfields, with completion due by autumn this year.
Typical floorplates at the building are around 21,000 sq ft. It has a BREEAM rating of Excellent, an International Well Building Institute accreditation of Gold, a Platinum Cycling Score and a Platinum WiredScore certification.
Edinburgh-based Abrdn, which recently attracted controversy over its name change from Standard Life Aberdeen, is targeting a move out of its current London offices at Bow Bells House, near St Paul’s, EC4. It also has offices in Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham and Jersey.
Cushman & Wakefield, BH2 and CBRE are letting agents at Duo Spitalfields. All parties declined to comment.
