Action! Bedfordshire’s new film and TV hub approved

Plans by developer Verb and film studio operator Quartermaster for a new film and television studio campus near Stewartby in Bedfordshire have been approved.

The masterplan, designed by Scott Brownrigg, will see the development of a 143-acre brownfield site to provide more 1.75m sq ft of flexible indoor and outdoor space alongside bars, restaurants, a gym, medical centre, childcare facilities and faith rooms.

The proposals also include ecological corridors, a central canal, new wetland and floating reed beds across the site, plus 173 acres of replacement habitat and woodland nearby.

Jason Lebidineuse, director at Scott Brownrigg, said: “Linking education to industry, Home of Production studios create a vibrant campus environment with a true sense of place in order to inspire the next generation and ensure succession for all facets of the industry, providing much needed investment into the independent film and TV industry and helping to meet the growing demand for studio space in the UK.”

Lichfields acted as planning consultant on the scheme.
