Addington approved for third Leeds PRS scheme

Addington Capital has secured planning for a third private rented sector scheme in Leeds.

It has been given the green light for 100 flats across three blocks on Melbourne Street in the city centre.

This is Addington’s third Leeds scheme, after developing 183 homes in a joint venture at Waterside and a further 124 units to date at Headingley.

Phil Symonds, partner at Addington, said: “Leeds has an estimated population of 780,000, which makes it the second largest city and the second-largest metropolitan district in the UK. It has a vibrant student and young professional market, who we believe will find our scheme attractive.

Recent figures from the BPF and Savills, revealed 5,038 BTR units in planning, under construction or in operation at the end of 2018. The city ranked fourth by number of BTR homes, behind London (72,767), Manchester and Salford (23,432) and Birmingham (5,583).
