Metropolitan Police Service detectives, constables and staff have vacated New Scotland Yard, SW1, after its new owner, the Abu Dhabi Financial Group, completed its £370m purchase of the historic block.
The group’s investment vehicle, BL Development, bought the Westminster site in December 2014.
BL’s developer Northacre has appointed planning consultant Bilfinger GVA and architect Squire & Partners to create a scheme, The Broadway, that provides 485,000 sq ft of homes, 146,000 sq ft of commercial space, and 37,500 sq ft of shops.
Planning permission was granted on 27 April this year for the six buildings, which are due to complete in 2021.

Jassim Alseddiqi, chief executive of ADFG, said: “The acquisition of New Scotland Yard and our plans for The Broadway represent ADFG’s continued commitment to investing in unique developments in London.”
The Met has moved its headquarters to Curtis Green on the Victoria Embankment as part of its policy of releasing buildings and creating modern police stations and offices. It had been in New Scotland Yard since 1967.
