Agents appointed to sell 78 acres of Aberdeen land

Administrators at FRP Advisory have appointed Shepherd Chartered Surveyors to seek buyers for around 78 acres of development land in Aberdeen, after a competitive tender process.

The land was previously owned by Countesswells Development Limited, a subsidiary of Stewart Milne Group that collapsed into administration last year.

It forms the next stage of the Countesswells scheme, which is slated to provide more than 3,100 homes in a range of two, three, four, five and six-bedroomed houses and flats to the west of Aberdeen’s city centre. It is one of the largest sites seen in the area for many decades.

Around 725 homes have been built so far at the site (pictured) by Stewart Milne, Barratt, David Wilson Homes, Kirkwood and CHAP Homes. Construction on a primary school is underway, with a second primary school and a secondary school also planned.

Commercial aspects include various retail areas, including a neighbourhood shopping centre anchored by a 4,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s.

Offers for the development as a whole or in parts will be considered. It will be divided into a range of land parcels for both residential and commercial uses.

Chris Grinyer, managing partner of Aberdeen-based Shepherd, said: “The local market is showing real signs of improvement, reflecting increased economic activity in the area, and we anticipate that this will result in good interest being generated in Countesswells.”

Tom MacLennan of FRP Advisory, joint Administrator of CDL, said: “Following on from securing the development site, we are now in a position to bring this unique development to the market. This is an opportunity for developers to acquire a substantial prime development in Aberdeen and progress it to a conclusion.”
