Agents appointed to sell UK’s most expensive country home

Savills and Hamptons International have been appointed to sell the UK’s most expensive country property.

Updown Court in Windlesham, Surrey, has been put on the market with an asking price in excess of £70m.

The property is being heralded as the first 21st century-stately home in Britain. Its grounds are larger in area than both Buckingham Palace and Hampton Court.

The 58-acre estate features five swimming pools, a heated marble driveway, a private cinema, bowling alley, indoor squash court, all-weather floodlit tennis court, and stables for five horses. There is also a helipad for private landings and underground garaging for eight limousines.

Uptown Court comprises four principal buildings, the main house, guest accommodation, a gate lodge and a separate estate manager’s office. Twenty-two bedroom/bathroom suites are provided as part of a total of 103 rooms. The main house also contains a panic room in case of terrorist attacks.

The house has been built by developer and entrepreneur, Leslie Allen-Vercoe of Rhymer Investments.
