Having an agent in the US is proving the key to attracting USinvestment into the UK.
K&L’s Microwave’s decision to set up a 836.1 sq m (9,000 sqft) factory in Bridlington followed contact with the Government-funded Yorkshire and Humberside Development Agency’s office in Concord, Massachusetts. So far this year, the YHDA’s office in Massachusetts has handled 78 inquiries.
Other UK agencies also stress the crucial importance of USrepresentation. American-owned Omega Engineering, which is building a European manufacturing plant at Irlam, Manchester, decided on the site after initial contacts with the Trafford ParkDevelopment Corporations office in St Louis, Missouri.
