AIG Global Real Estate has completed a £100m forward funding deal for MRP’s landmark student scheme Onyx in Birmingham city centre.
The 1,025-bedroom scheme is currently under construction, with completion expected in summer 2020.
It also includes health and fitness facilities, a private landscaped courtyard with an amphitheatre, two large roof terraces and a sky lounge.
Onyx is located at Lancaster Circus on New Town Road, adjacent to Aston and Birmingham City universities in the north of the city centre.
Graham Mitchell, development director at MRP, said: “The Onyx represents a significant landmark project which sets new benchmarks, offering a combination of features including height, landscaping, specification and scale not previously seen in the city.”
MRP has completed more than £1.3bn of commercial developments. It has £250m of projects under development and a pipeline of £1.25bn in schemes.
