Confusion over tax breaks relating to the use of sharing websites, including Airbnb, could push the total of late tax returns over the one million mark for the first time.
The government announced earlier this year that people would be able to earn £2,000 a year from such websites.
The tax breaks only come into effect from April next year, however, meaning people would be expected to pay tax on all earnings from such activities in the last year.
