Airport City director steps down

Karen Campbell, director of the £800m Manchester Airport City project, is to step down from the post for health and personal reasons.

Campbell, billed as the woman leading the UK’s largest construction project, is still officially with the company but will leave the post shortly.

She joined the firm in January, having previously worked as general executive manager at Lend Lease.

John Atkins, property director, will assume her responsibilities in the interim.

The news comes as MAG confirmed the controversial decision to include the Beijing Construction Engineering Group in the joint venture delivering the project, despite an exclusivity agreement between the Chinese firm and Ask Real Estate, which was not selected.

The 5m sq ft office-led scheme has outline planning permission, and will be delivered by Argent.
