CBRE’s Edinburgh managing director has quit to become GVA Grimley’s head of agency for Scotland.
Keith Aitken resigned last Friday, and is now on gardening leave. He will be Grimley’s third equity partner in Scotland.
Andy Carswell, regional partner in charge at GVA Grimley (Scotland), said: “We approached Keith as there was a strategic gap in our senior team in Scotland. He’s a high-level player and that’s just what we needed.”
Aitken returned to the pre-merger CB Hillier Parker in 2002, after leaving in January 2001 to become a development director at his main client, CALA Properties.
A source said: “He came back because he preferred the agency environment. But since the merger there’s a lot more people at senior level in CBRE – it’s a bit crowded at the top.”
CBRE Scottish chairman Douglas Smith said: “While we are disappointed to be losing Keith, his particular line of business represents only one element of our overall activities in Scotland.”
