Aldi to move into Manchester’s Piccadilly Basin

Supermarket chain Aldi will open a new store in Manchester’s Piccadilly Basin after signing for 17,000 sq ft at Town Centre Securities’ former Ilva furniture store.

Leeds-based TCS’s 200,000 sq ft unit was left vacant following the collapse of Danish retailer Ilva’s UK operation in June 2008.

A spokesperson from TCS said that the letting was a “very important first step in re-establishing the value of our retail store at Piccadilly Basin”.

Aldi’s new store will open for trade in November.
