Aldi plans to open 100 new supermarkets by the end of 2021 as part of a £1.3bn expansion drive.
The retailer said it will be investing £1.3bn into new stores, store upgrades, new distribution centre space and “innovations and developments”.
The company is looking to open a total of 1,200 new stores by 2025.
The news comes as Aldi posted an 8% increase in sales to £12.28bn for the year ended 31 December 2019.
Its profit before tax increased by 49% from £182.2m to £271.5m.
Aldi UK chief executive Giles Hurley said: “With the UK’s economic outlook increasingly uncertain, families are more concerned about their grocery bills than ever.
“We have seen before that our customers need us most in times of financial hardship, which is why our commitment to remain Britain’s lowest-priced supermarket is more important than ever.”
