The Daily Telegraph marks the final weeks of the LondonDocklands Development Corporation (LDDC) with a page devoted to its achievements and the prospects for the agencies which take over.
Developers are currently cautious about projects despite receiving planning permission in several instances. But the centrepiece of the venture, Canary Wharf, is acknowledged to have been a success. The tower is now 98% let and two large office complexes are now under construction nearby.
The development of the Royal Docks is gathering momentum. A£200m international exhibition centre, which will include threehotels, will be built. Work has also started on the new UniversityCollege of East London and the European headquarters of NortonHealthcare.
