Discussions to sell Allders of Croydon to regional chain Beales have collapsed.
Harold Tillman, chairman of Jaeger, Aquascutum and the British Fashion Council, held talks with Beales earlier this year. However, a sale was not concluded.
Sources suggest that Hilco is interested in the UK’s third-largest department store, but the story has been denied.
Elsewhere, Tillman plans to open five smaller Aquascutum stores in London after it sold the lease on its Regent Street shop to Austin Reed for £5m last month.
