The Financial Times reports how Alliance Trust and Second Alliance Trust have been looking to branch out into other asset classes, such as real estate.
The remark forms part of an article about the agreement this week between the two investment trusts to combine to create the largest general investment trust in the UK with more than £2.77bn under management.
The trusts recently hired a new manager to oversee property investments.
