One of the largest insurance firms in the world is launching a major new regional requirement as it seeks to expand its call centre operation in the UK.
Financial services firm Allianz will next month begin looking for an 80,000 sq ft office in one of the biggest regional searches on the market.
The German multinational has circulated its requirement among agents in Greater Manchester, the North East and South Wales.
However, it is expected to centre its search around south Manchester – owing to its low cost base and proximity to several major labour markets – and South Wales, which neighbours its five Bristol offices.
Allianz’s call centre operations are currently run from its UK head office in Croydon.
The cost-sensitive requirement is unlikely to lead to a prelet, instead favouring existing space, but would be a major boost to regional employment.
Space within commuting distance of other major regional centres is severely limited, with a handful of Northern business parks offering suitable premises.
Milton Keynes-based agent Dexter Brown has been appointed on the requirement.
