Allied London has appointed Piers Read as its director of enterprise at its new Manchester neighbourhood St John’s.

He will oversee the workspace element of the scheme.

Read founded Wimbledon Film & TV Studios in 2010, which produced the film The Iron Lady starring Meryl Streep, ITV entertainment show Tipping Point and several of the BBC’s Episodes comedy series featuring Matt Le Blanc.

The studios also include 40,000 sq ft of flexible workspace in Wimbledon, SW19, which has attracted tenants from the creative sectors.

After leaving Wimbledon Film & TV in 2014, Read was appointed managing director of Custard Factory in Digbeth, Birmingham, which is occupied by more than 500 tenants from the tech, digital and creative industries.

He was formerly a TV producer at Graham Norton’s SO Television and has worked on Peep Show and The Inbetweeners.

Allied London chief executive Mike Ingall said: “When creating new spaces you need to acquire new talent and Piers has a great, complementary skill set for what we’re trying to achieve at St John’s.

“He has a proven track record in film, TV and enterprise as well as an ability to curate new places, as he has already demonstrated in London and Birmingham.”
