Allied plans tech incubator at Spinningfields

The-Cotton-Building-Spinningfields-THUMB.jpegAllied London is to create a 30,000 sq ft co-working incubator at its XYZ Building in Spinningfields, Manchester.

The project will comprise a professional shared corporate environment where employees of larger nearby occupiers can mingle with start-ups.

The move was prompted by demand from professional services and financial firms on the estate. Occupiers at Spinningfields include Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays and Deloitte.

Meanwhile, Allied’s and Manchester city council’s 400,000 sq ft Bonded Warehouse in the St John’s Quarter masterplan – former home of ITV’s Granada Studios – is to become a media, retail and music tech hub.

Along with Allied’s Hello Work workspace platform, the two bases are intended to boost Allied’s ability to cater to Manchester’s burgeoning tech scene.

XYZ totals 160,000 sq ft across 20,000 sq ft customisable floorplates and includes 30,000 sq ft of public amenity space. It is due to complete in 2016.
