Allied unveils Manchester plan

St.-John's-Manchester-570

Allied London has unveiled its detailed plan for the St John’s neighbourhood on the site of the former Granada Studios in Manchester.

A three-day consultation was launched today on the plans, which involve 2,500 homes, two or three hotels, along with event, performance, and small-scale retail and commercial space.

Allied London chief executive Michael Ingall said: “Our vision is to create an engaging and exciting mixed-use neighbourhood for Manchester that brings together enterprise, innovation, culture, entertainment and leisure, in a unique living environment in the heart of the city.

“St John’s will create a new hive of cultural and community activity within Manchester city centre.  Set among 15 acres, St John’s will combine high-quality residential developments with significant public spaces and vibrant streets.”

Allied and partner Manchester city council plan to submit an application after the consultation closes, with construction set to start in 2016.
