Allsop kicks off year with 145-lot residential auction
Allsop’s January sale will feature 145 residential and mixed-use development lots across the UK.
The largest lot on offer is a portfolio of five unbroken buildings in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, comprising 42 self-contained flats, two mews houses and four shops producing £220,724 pa (lot 31, pictured). It has a guide price of more than £2m.
Allsop’s first auction of 2024 comes off the back of a year in which the auction house raised £880m from both residential and commercial sales. Residential sales saw a c20% increase on the year before, despite challenging economic conditions, rising interest rates and inflation, and a cost-of-living crisis.

Richard Adamson, partner and auctioneer at Allsop, said: “Our first residential auction catalogue of the year features over 140 lots, including income-producing mixed-use and residential investments, development and other value-add opportunities. The last few months of 2023 seemed to bring more certainty and some quiet optimism, so we are anticipating a busy few weeks as investors return to the market following the Christmas break.”
Auction highlights include:
a long leasehold, self-contained ground-floor two-bedroom flat in Chelsea extending to 136 sq m, guided at £1.65m+ (lot 6);
two unbroken blocks of flats in Southampton comprising 29 self-contained flats, producing £180,578 pa with five flats vacant, guided at £1.6m+ (lot 10); and
a freehold residential block in Swadlincote, comprising 40 letting rooms, producing £102,422 pa with 22 letting rooms vacant, guided at £600,000+ (lot 20).
