A partially completed mansion with an indoor spa and swimming pool in Highgate, N6, will go under the hammer in Allsop’s first residential auction of the year, guided at £5.5m-£6m.
The property is on Sheldon Avenue, which runs parallel to The Bishops Avenue, dubbed “Billionaires’ Row”. It is being jointly marketed with agent Glentree International ahead of the 16 February online sale.
It has been finished to shell and core and will span 8,900 sq ft on completion, comprising seven bedrooms, two reception rooms, six bathrooms, a cinema, a library and staff accommodation.
With the weakening of the pound drawing larger than usual volumes of overseas investors to the capital, Allsop and Glentree expect dollar-denominated buyers to feature heavily among would-be buyers.
Gary Murphy, auctioneer and consultant at Allsop, said: “Sheldon Avenue is among London’s most sought-after residential addresses. It has been a magnet for affluent buyers, including members of royal families and celebrities, for more than a century, and is now seeing renewed interest from overseas buyers looking to capitalise on the attractive dollar-to-pound exchange rate.
“This mansion would be perfect for those with a vision for their dream home, looking for the ultimate blank canvas to put their stamp on, with well-proportioned rooms, wellness facilities not typically found in London homes and plenty of space for entertaining. North London has long been popular among overseas buyers, and this property presents a rare investment opportunity in one of the capital’s most desirable postcodes.”
Trevor Abrahmsohn, managing director of Glentree International, said: “Clearly, this property would appeal to those who would like to exert their own decor influence and do not need instant gratification. When complete, this mansion will have all the trappings of luxury that anyone could desire, while nestled in this leafy, cherished residential area, with some of the best private schools in the world on the doorstep.
“Given the pent-up demand for properties of this kind, we expect this attractively priced family home to sell well before the auction.”
