Allsop has promoted two staff members to managing partner roles, to lead its commercial and residential divisions.
Mark Gower (pictured above, left) becomes commercial managing partner and Richard Adamson (right) residential managing partner, taking effect on 1 April.
Gower and Adamson began their careers with Allsop. Both will work closely with Lesley Connor, Allsop’s chief finance and operations officer, as well as senior partner Scott Tyler, who remains responsible for the firm’s strategic direction.
Following work experience with Allsop in 1995, Gower joined Allsop as a graduate in 1996 and rose through the ranks to take on a leadership role in the commercial auctions team.
In addition to remaining part of the commercial auctions division’s leadership team, Gower will support Allsop’s wider commercial segment, namely the valuations, national investments – including its logistics, retail warehousing and alternatives specialists – West End and City investment and leasing, business rates and lease advisory, and recoveries and receivership teams.
Adamson joined Allsop in 2001 as a graduate surveyor, having also previously carried out work experience with the company. He leads Allsop’s residential auctions team and remains an active auctioneer, responsibilities that he will continue to hold.
In his role as residential managing partner, Adamson will provide day-to-day support for Allsop’s growing residential property wing, which provides a full range of transactional and advisory services including valuations, build-to-rent and purpose-built student accommodation investment, residential development and investment advisory, and other consulting services.
Chris Berriman, the current managing partner of the residential auctions division, will take on a consultant role at the firm, “having reached the age of 60”. He has held the managing partner role for 18 years.
Allsop said Berriman will continue to have an active interest in both residential auctions and the “overall success” of the business.
Gower said: “ I remember being struck when I joined Allsop almost 30 years ago by the open and friendly partnership culture, and how hands on and approachable the partners were. Much has changed over the years but I’m proud to say the culture remains reassuringly the same. Allsop’s commitment to its people – both clients and colleagues – and entrepreneurial spirit enables us to deliver exceptional results for our clients, in what remains a challenging environment, as the market continues to adjust to the reality of living in a world of permanently higher interest rates.”
Adamson added: “As one of the few partnerships remaining among UK real estate consultancies, Allsop’s people-focused culture has provided us with the resilience not only to weather the current slowdown in the market but to continue making strategic investments, including in our graduate and apprenticeship schemes.”
Tyler said: “Chris has been an exemplar managing partner, helping to navigate the firm through seismic shifts in the UK real estate market and global economy while also helping to diversify our business to become the leader it is today in sectors including auctions, student housing and single- and multi-family build-to-rent. I’m thrilled that he will continue as a consultant to the firm and to our clients, as well as continuing to provide an excellent auction experience from the rostrum.
“Richard and Mark represent the very best of Allsop’s partnership approach, and with our senior leadership team refreshed, we can confidently look at the many opportunities ahead and maximise performance for our wide range of clients.”
