Real estate adviser Altus Group has bolstered its rating team with the appointment of Vail Williams partner James FitzGibbon.
FitzGibbon was the lead partner for business rates at Vail Williams, based in Birmingham.
He has also worked at director level with Aitchison Rafferty, the Valuation Office Agency and as head of group property for Ladbrokes on the client side.
FitzGibbon is the first of three recruits that Altus is adding to its Heathrow rating team.
Robert Hayton, head of UK business rates at Altus Group, said: “James is joining a highly motivated team that is dominating the Check, Challenge, Appeal process and one that has already registered over 35,000 Covid-19 material change in circumstances checks, the biggest ever group-based challenge.”
Altus Group has the UK’s largest business rates practice, working across all main property sectors from 12 regional offices.
The business rates team has handled a quarter of all checks and a third of challenges registered by commercial property agents, under the Check, Challenge, Appeal regulations between 1 April 2017 and 31 March this year.
