Amazon has taken over the lease of a warehouse in Weybridge, Surrey, which was previously a distribution centre for Tesco.
The warehouse’s location within the M25 makes it ideal as a centre for delivering fresh food to customers in London. Amazon described as speculation suggestions that it was about to launch a grocery service, however.
The company is also leasing a warehouse in Bardon, Leicestershire, which will replace its Castle Donington site.
