Amazon to lose European logistics guru

Amazon-shed-THUMB.jpegThe executive in charge of establishing Amazon’s 12m sq ft European logistics portfolio is to leave the company after 14 years.

Raimund Paetzmann will step down as head of EU real estate at the online retail giant in May this year.

No successor has yet been appointed and Paetzmann has yet to accept another job.

He is expected to take six months off following his departure.

Amazon is understood to be considering both internal and external candidates to fill the vacancy.

During his tenure at Amazon Paetzmann has overseen the strategy for and leasing of one of the largest and most advanced networks of warehouses in Europe, designed to fulfil hundreds of millions of customer orders across the Continent.

He was responsible for all European logistics acquisitions, from land searches to site negotiations.

Paetzmann will attend MIPIM in March ahead of his departure.
