CB Richard Ellis has announced that an American is to become chairman of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Jim Reid, the present executive managing director of investment properties at CB Richard Ellis, takes over in January 2001. Don Newell and Barry White, the current co-chairmen of the EMEA region, will be retiring at the end of the year.
Don Newell was formerly senior partner of UK surveying firm Hillier Parker and Barry White was the former chief executive of Richard Ellis International. The two were responsible for the integration of REI and Hillier Parker into CB Richard Ellis.
Newell joined Hillier Parker May & Rowden in 1968 and White has been with Richard Ellis since 1959. Reid has worked in the UK since 1998, when Hillier Parker merged with CB Richard Ellis.
