Amicala and Socius plan 10-acre Surrey integrated retirement community

Later living operator Amicala has partnered with developer Socius for a new 10-acre integrated retirement community in Weybridge, Surrey.

The jv has submitted plans to Elmbridge Brough Council to build 205 homes at at Members Hill, close to Weybridge town centre. Amenities will include shops, a hydropool, exercise studio and a café.

The site was previously used as the UK headquarters for Japan Tobacco International.

The design includes the repurposing of an existing building, saving more than 3,000 tonnes of CO2, and on-site renewable energy generation. The new homes will be set within landscaped green space, achieving a significant increase in biodiversity.

Members Hill is the second partnership between Amicala and Socius following plans to deliver an IRC at the former St Christopher’s School in Bristol.

Doug Higgins, project director at Socius, said: “Our vision for Members Hill is to sustainably repurpose existing buildings on the site to deliver much-needed senior living accommodation in a community setting.”
