Amstrad is to reshape itself by transferring its loss-making consumer electronics division into Betacom, the cordless telephone company in which it has a two-thirds stake. Some 50 staff will be made redundant. The move will clear the way for the company’s expected takeover by the palmtop computer business Psion.
