Some industry analysts are predicting GKN’s armoured vehicle plant in Telford, Shropshire, could close after current obligations to customers are completed. The motor components, defence equipment and industrial services group announced plans to axe 270 jobs there because of failure to win further orders from the Ministry of Defence and the completion of a Kuwaiti contract.
