Andrews & Robertson sells 47% of lots

A disappointing sale saw Andrews & Robertson sell less than half of lots offered at its latest auction, held on 20 September.

The firm, now part of BidX1, sold just 20 out of 43 lots, a 47% success rate. The total raised was £6.3m.

The highest-value lot to sell was a new-build, seven-bedroom house in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, in need of completion. The property, on the south-west side of the town, fetched £835,000.

Unsold lots include a terrace house in West Norwood, SE27, converted to nine flats and producing £67,350 pa. Bidding reached £970,000 and it is available for just over £1m.

A freehold three-bedroom house in New Cross, SE14, let until September at a rent of £2,300 per month, is available at £695,000. Bidding on the day reached £670,000.

Robin Cripp, senior auctioneer and consultant at A&R, said: “While the overall result was disappointing, we’re encouraged that properties that sold in the September auction achieved prices well in excess of their guide price.  We received a high level of interest in the properties prior to bidding, and achieved a number of offers following the auction.

“There has been interest in unsold lots and as such we’d hope to conclude some more sales this week. When the climate is right, properties are selling well, so we look forward to our next auction in October.”

The sale took place at the Montcalm Hotel, W1.
