Anthony Collins expands into 20,000 sq ft in Birmingham city centre

Birmingham-based solicitors Anthony Collins is expanding into 1,986 sq m (21,380 sq ft) offices on Waterloo Street.

The legal firm has taken 1,986 sq m (21,380 sq ft) and 185 sq m (2,000 sq ft) of storage space at St Philip’s Gate, 5 Waterloo Street, for a rent close to the quoting figure of £145 per sq m (£13.50 per sq ft). About 12 months rent free was agreed.

Over the past few weeks law firms Lee Crowder, Martin Eau Johnson and Dibb Lupton Alsop have also taken space in the city centre.

However, Dibb Lupton Alsop is also looking to take a prelet on 3,251 sq m (35,000 sq ft) in a new development in the city. Simon Tate of Savills, which acts for DLA nationwide, says a shortlist of five sites in the central office area has been drawn up. This is thought to include schemes at Brindleyplace and Snow Hill House.

Both Dibb Lupton Alsop and Martin Eau Johnson have each taken 557 sq m (6,000 sq ft) in Windsor House and St Philip’s House on Temple Row, respectively.

DTZ Debenham Thorpe acted for Anthony Collins. St Quintin and DTZ are letting the remaining 743 sq m (8,000 sq ft) at St Philip’s Gate for Royal Insurance.
