Apex gets go-ahead for third London hotel

Edinburgh-based hotelier Apex Hotels has been granted planning consent for its third London hotel.

Apex will refurbish a 98,000 sq ft building at 1-2 Serjeants Inn, just off Fleet Street, and extend it by 10,000 sq ft to create the Apex Temple Court Hotel, a 184-bed, four-star hotel, complete with a restaurant, bar, conference facilities and gym.

Apex bought the £27m building, which contains offices and a public house, in March from legal body the Honourable society of the Inner Temple.

Development will start on site next spring, for completion in summer 2011.

The scheme will be Apex’s eighth hotel.

It is currently converting a former office block in Copthall Avenue, in the City, into an 89-bed hotel. It is due to open in November.
