Apple takes even bigger bite out of 22 Bishopsgate

Apple is set to take another three floors at 22 Bishopsgate, EC2, expanding its presence in the building for the second time in six months.

The $2.5tn tech giant initially leased floors 31 and 32 – around 50,000 sq ft – of AXA IM Alts’ 62-storey tower in 2020. In November it opted to take three floors above, giving it an additional 78,000 sq ft.

It is now understood that Apple wants to take a further three floors, taking its slice of the building to 200,000 sq ft.

The first two floors were leased to house the group’s Apple Pay team, but it is not clear what the plan is for the extra space.

Both Apple and AXA Investment Managers, which runs the building on behalf of a consortium of international investors, declined to comment.

The lettings will take 22 Bishopsgate’s occupancy to more than 80%, with 1m sq ft let of the 1.3m sq ft of available office space.

Apple is expected to move into its 500,000 sq ft campus at Battersea Power Station later this year.
