Arlington secures consent for Hammersmith life sciences development

Arlington has received planning approval for a 123,000 sq ft life sciences development in Hammersmith, west London.

It is thought that the scheme, known as Refinery, will become one of the first fully lab-enabled buildings in London to be delivered by a commercial property investor.

The development will offer “Biosecurity Level 2” labs as well as offices. It will be built alongside the Waterfront office scheme at Manbré Wharf, on the Thames Embankment.

There is scope for each floor to be fitted out for laboratory use. A fifth of the building will be dedicated to collaboration and amenity space, including an event studio, restaurant, club room and business lounge.

Daniel Pagella, commercial director at Arlington, said: “Refinery will be transformational for Manbré Wharf, adding a new Thameside park and plaza, with a large proportion of the building dedicated to collaboration and amenity space.

“Our already thriving community will have some fantastic spaces to enjoy, helping us to attract and retain the brightest and best from the science and innovation community.”

BNP Paribas Real Estate, JLL and Hanover Green advised Arlington.
