Art-Invest Real Estate is set to receive planning approval for its plans for a 742-bed student accommodation scheme alongside 75 affordable homes at Dockside Canada Water, SE16, switching from an office-led proposal.
The developer secured detailed planning permission for two of three buildings in 2023 but revised its plans for plot B in 2024.
The student beds will be provided across a 25-storey building, with another seven-storey building accommodating affordable housing and commercial space on the ground floor.
Art-Invest’s proposed plans said the change was made as “PBSA which will complement the existing student accommodation nearby and will make a positive contribution to the emerging transformation of the Canada Water town centre”.
The proposed 75 affordable homes include a “high percentage of family sized homes”, helping to address the most acute housing needs of the borough.
The plans will be discussed by Southwark Council in a planning meeting next week.
