Asda has appointed Steve Masters as property development director.
Masters will replace Rob Swyer, who had been with the supermarket chain for 10 years.
Masters will join in the autumn from First Quench Retailing, the owner of Threshers and Wine Rack, where he is executive director for property and retailing services.
Prior to that he was senior vice-president for retail and real estate at Polo Ralph Lauren and he has also held senior property posts with Burton Group, Walt Disney Company and Gap.
Masters will report into Andy Clarke, chief operating officer at Asda, where he will be responsible for all aspects of new store development and the management of its existing store portfolio in the
Asda said the structure of its retail development department will remain as before with all of the current functions including property acquisitions, headed by Jo Moon.
Estates and construction will report to Masters.
Asda said in a statement that Swyer had left to “pursue his career elsewhere” and will remain in his post until the autumn.
