Asda is buying 4.05ha (10 acres) at Monks Cross from Bass Developments for an undisclosed sum. The site has planning consent for a 5,110 sq m (55,000sq ft) superstore. The retailer intends moving there from its existing store in York which is expected to be sold.
Chesterton, which is advising Bass, is in negotiation with a number of non-food retailers for space at the edge of town park.
