Asda Stores announced today it has received outline planning consent for the £50m redevelopment of the former Leyton Railway Yard in east London in partnership with London & Continental Railways.
Initial planning consent was granted in 1995 for a 65,000 sq. ft supermarket, 90,000 sq. ft of non-food retail and 50,000 sq. ft. of leisure facilities. Asda hopes to obtain final planning consent from Waltham Forest Council within six months.
The supermarket chain has agreed to planning obligations including a new access road, children’s play area, workplace nursery, community building and town square.
