Asda has promoted Colin Sangster to head of property acquisitions in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Sangster, who joined Asda in 2008, will be heading up a team focused on expanding the retailer’s store portfolio.
Asda is seeking sites across Scotland and Northern Ireland for a range of store formats from 10,000 sq ft to 60,000 sq ft net selling area.
The supermarket chain plans to open four new stores in Scotland this year. Stores in Larkhall and Armadale will join Asda’s first stores to open in the Highlands, in Inverness and Tain. It is also planning to open a new store in Portadown.
Sangster said: “These are difficult economic times and it has never been more important that we continue to deliver stores that provide customers with the choice, quality and service they expect at the lowest supermarket prices.”
