Asda’s head of estates resigns

Supermarket giant Asda has lost another key member of staff.

Janet Bishopp has resigned as director of estates.

Bishopp, who was appointed in 2008, was a key player in the purchase of Netto in 2010, and also in transforming the chain’s estates. She is understood to be joining Sainsbury’s.

Prior to joining Asda, Bishopp was senior property manager at John Lewis.

Bishopp’s departure follows that of two other high-level property directors – Steve Masters, retail development director, and Bob Simpson, director of sustainable development – who left in February.

Asda admitted earlier this year that it would not meet its target of opening 150 Asda Living stores over the next three years .
