ASDA and jv partner Marsh Life Property have revealed fresh plans for a gateway development site in Poole, Dorset, eight years after getting consent.
The supermarket giant and Marsh will next week launch a public consultation into new plans for the former Dalgety Mills site on West Quay Road.
The fresh proposals will see the site developed in two phases, the first of which will include a 125-bedroom Travelodge hotel, a gym, two pub restaurants, including a Harvester, and a Costa coffee shop.
Work on the second phase will begin once the first is completed and could include office or residential space.
Consent to turn Dalgety Mills into a mixed-use scheme, anchored with an ASDA, was granted in 2002.
While the supermarket opened in 2004, the rest of the development stalled.
The project appeared to take a step forward in 2007 when Barclays agreed to take a 150,000 sq ft head-office building.
However, despite planning permission being granted for the HQ in January 2008, Barclays withdrew from the move.
ASDA said: “ASDA and Marsh Life Property have worked extremely hard since the store opened to try and develop the remainder of the site, but our efforts have been frustrated due to a lack of demand from the leisure and commercial office markets.”
