Ashtenne buys Welsh industrial estate for £3.5m

Industrial specialist Ashtenne has bought Baglan Industrial Park at Port Talbot from the Welsh Development Agency for £3.5m.

Ashtenne and the WDA have entered a joint-venture to market the 13,935 sq m (150,000 sq ft) of vacant accommodation on the 39,020 sq m (420,000 sq ft) estate.

The purchase adds to Ashtenne’s portfolio of ex-WDA industrial estates. In 1995 it paid the agency around £25m for industrial properties throughout the Principality.

“The estate is exactly what we like to buy, with an existing income stream and a number of vacant units where our flexible attitude and approach can benefit and attract tenants,” said Anthony Wardle of Ashtenne.

Grimley represented the WDA while Ashtenne was unrepresented. King Sturge & Co and Grimley are joint letting agents on Baglan Industrial Park.
