Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing is moving its co-chief executive officer and co-chief investment officer, Olivier de Poulpiquet, to Asia.
The US investor told staff in an internal memo that the move was “in response to increased growth in the region”.
“This move continues MSREI’s long-standing commitment to Asia and signals our belief in the exciting opportunities in the region,” the memo said.
During the past few years, Morgan Stanley has been a net seller in Asia, but now it wants to become a net buyer again.
Following the relocation, expected during the summer, MSREI’s Brian Niles will become head of the European business. De Poulpiquet’s relocation will not affect the roles of MSREI’s co-CEO and co-CIO John Klopp or Asia head Hoke Slaughter.
De Poulpiquet only rejoined Morgan Stanley last April after leaving Italy’s Pirelli Real Estate. He worked chiefly with MSREI between 1994 and 2003 before joining Pirelli as chief investment officer.
Morgan Stanley’s latest G7 global property fund closed last May after raising $4bn, which is now being invested.
