Average asking prices for UK homes rose 1.2% in the four weeks ended 13 May, to a new record high £317,281, figures from Rightmove show.
Asking prices have risen for five consecutive months, and the latest rise is a slight acceleration from the prior period’s 1.1% growth but less than the 2% growth recorded in February.
Families with young children in particular are looking to move, and asking prices on typical family homes underscored the demand, with prices in this category up 5.4% at £270,953.
