Assembly votes to audit Garden Bridge plans

Garden-Bridge-1

The London Assembly has voted to audit Boris Johnson’s plans for a Garden Bridge between Temple and the South Bank.

Caroline Pidgeon, leader of the Liberal Democrat group in the London Assembly, proposed a motion saying other locations along the Thames would be more suitable.

The assembly is now calling on the mayor to remove £30m in Transport for London funding for the project.

Also of concern were the effects of the bridge on views of the river and on local residents.

Eleven members voted to audit the project, with three voting against.
