Barnard Marcus sale raises £20.5m

Barnard Marcus raised £20.5m at its London sale on 25 July, with a success rate of 61%. A high street building in Billericay, Essex, with planning approval for redevelopment as five flats and a retail unit sold for £1.8m off a guide of £1.5m. Of 121 the lots sold from the 200-lot catalogue, 99 sold in the room and 22 prior to the auction at the Grand Connaught Rooms, WC2.

A&R unloads £1m Camberwell gem

The biggest lot in Andrews & Robertson’s latest London sale was a four-floor terraced building in Camberwell, SE5, which had been in the same family ownership for 48 years. It features a ground-floor shop with three flats above, and a former private members’ bar at basement level. Guided at £950,000, the lot sold for £1m. The 18 July auction at the Montcalm Hotel, W1, raised £9.9m with a success rate of 72%.

Auction House London raises £15m 

Auction House London raised more than £15.8m with a success rate of 63% at its sale on 19 July at the London Marriott Hotel, NW3. A detached house in Edgware, Middlesex, with development potential, sold for £1.1m, and an end-of-terrace property in Tooting, SW17, comprising four flats, sold for £1m.

92% success for Barnett Ross

Barnett Ross raised £16.7m at its recent sale, selling all but four of the 46 lots offered (92%), with 39 going in the room and two prior to the auction at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel, W1. A Victorian property owned by the same family for 100 years in Mortlake, SW14, sold for £1m from a reserve of less than £900,000.
