■ Barnard Marcus sold 54% of lots offered at its 17 September sale at the Grand Connaught Rooms, WC2, raising £18.6m. In Balham, SW17, a freehold shop with a maisonette above offering development potential sold for £749,000, a 4.5% yield. A newly converted split-level maisonette on New Kings Road, Fulham, SW6, is still available at £630,000 after bidding reached £592,000.
■ A former public toilet block (pictured) close to the harbour in Newlyn, Cornwall, sparked a bidding frenzy at Clive Emson’s latest sale. It sold on behalf of Cornwall Council for £73,000 from a guide of £15,000-plus. The firm raised a total of £16m across five days in five venues from 10-14 September. The 155-lot catalogue also included an equestrian centre with residential redevelopment potential at Ewhurst, near Cranleigh, Surrey, which sold for £521,000.
■ Auction House London raised almost £15m at its latest sale on 12 September, selling 69% of lots offered. A mixed-use partly vacant investment in Kensington, W8, sold for £850,000, a 3.5% yield. A six-bedroom HMO in Watford producing £32,000 pa sold for £400,000, an 8% yield. In Wembley, Middlesex, a lock-up shop and ground rent on the flat above sold for £230,000, a 7.5% yield. The sale took place at the London Marriott Hotel, NW3.
■ A largely vacant, grade-A office block on a business park in Peterlee, County Durham, sold for £150,000 at the Network Auctions sale last week after being offered with no reserve. Unit 2C, Whitehouse 3, on Traynor Way at Whitehouse Business Park was valued at £880,000 in October 2017. It provides 46,596 sq ft of accommodation on a 2.2 acre site with a 190-bay car park. The sale on 12 September 2018 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, W1, raised a total of £4.7m, selling 70% of lots offered.
